ASEA 17th ExCo meeting in Cairo, Egypt
The 17th Executive
Committee meeting was held on the 6th and 7th of April 2009
in Cairo and was hosted by The Egyptian Exchange. The first day focused on receiving
the presentations of the index providers, FTSE Group, Nex Rubica Group, Dow Jones
Indexes/STOXX Ltd. While the second day, the Promotions and Marketing task force
provided a report on the selection of the Index Service Providers. The meeting also
followed up on the latest developments of the association and reviewed the members'
proposals for the ASEA strategic plan; in addition to the ongoing preparations for
the 13th ASEA Conference and Annual General Meeting that will be held
in Abuja, Nigeria on the 7th – 9th October 2009.
9 November 2008 -
ASEA 16th ExCo meeting in Kampala, Uganda
The 16th Executive
Committee meeting was held Kampala, Uganda on the 9th of November 2008
and was hosted by Uganda Stock Exchange. The committee members ratified the affiliate
status with the South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) and approved the Central
Securities Clearing System, the clearing and settlement house of Kenya, as an observer
member. The proposal of Douala Stock Exchange for a full membership was also accepted
subject to completing the required documents. During the meeting a briefing on the
Ai Index Series Award Event was presented and the audited financial statements for
the year ended 30th June 2008 were reviewed. The meeting also followed
up on the latest updates of the taskforces' proposals for the ASEA strategic plan;
and resolved that the 13th ASEA conference will be held in Abuja, Nigeria
during November 2009.
27 February 2008 - ASEA 15th ExCo meeting in Cairo, Egypt
The 15th Executive
Committee meeting was held on the 27th of February 2008 in Cairo and
was hosted by The Egyptian Exchange. The meeting followed up on the latest developments
of the association and reviewed the members proposals for the ASEA strategic plan.
The meeting also discussed the Ai partnership proposal. Finally, the committee members
conferred the future plans of ASEA and the different tools of development; in addition
to the ongoing preparations for the 12th ASEA conference that will be
held in Kampala, Uganda in November 2008.
28 October 2007 - ASEA 14th ExCo meeting in Accra, Ghana
The 14th Executive
Committee meeting was held on the 28th of October 2007 in Accra and was
hosted by Ghana Stock Exchange, where the members welcomed both, Mr. Maged Shawky,
the Chairman of EGX, and Mr. Ekow Efedzie, General Manager of Ghana Stock Exchange,
who were re-elected, for a second consecutive term, as ASEA President and Vice President,
consecutively. During the meeting, the chairs of the 3 main task forces of ASEA
were appointed, namely; Corporate Governance task force, Integration in Africa task
force as well as Promotion and Marketing task force.
28 October 2007 - ASEA 13th ExCo meeting in Accra, Ghana
The 13th Executive Committee
meeting was held on the 28th of October 2007 in Accra and was hosted
by Ghana Stock Exchange. The meeting followed up on the latest developments of the
association and discussed the affiliate status with the Southern Asian Federation
of Exchanges (SAFE). The meeting reviewed and accepted to the full membership of
both, Libya Stock Market and Khartoum Stock Exchange as well as the Central Depository
and Settlement Corporation (Kenya) as an observer member. The committee members
finally discussed the future plans of ASEA and how to enhance and develop Corporate
Governance, Cross Listing and Regional Integration among its members.
30 April 2007 - ASEA 12th ExCo meeting in Cairo
The 12th Executive Committee meeting was held on the 30th
of April 2007 in Cairo and was hosted by EGX. The meeting followed up on the latest
developments of the association and discussed a new membership fees scheme. The
meeting reviewed the submitted data by the members for completion of ASEA Yearbook
and stressed on the importance of the continuous update of the data on the website.
The committee members finally discussed the future plans of ASEA and how to enhance
mutual cooperation between its members. Last but not least, Ghana Stock Exchange
has presented the draft program of the next ASEA conference that will be held in
Accra.
17 September 2006 - Johannesburg
The second executive committee meeting of 2006 was held on the 17th
of September 2006 in Johannesburg. The meeting followed up on the tax exemption
application that was filed with the Kenya Revenue Authority. The meeting also stressed
on the importance of the continuous update of the data on the website by member
countries. The committee members finally reviewed the June 2006 ASEA annual financial
statements and the budget for 2007.
20 February 2006 - Cairo
The first Executive committee meeting of 2006 was held on the 20th
of February 2006 in Cairo. The meeting addressed a proposal from Africa Investor
Magazine to partner with ASEA. Outstanding issues of taxation, debtors’ positions
as well as investment of surplus funds were also discussed. In order to increase
the profile of ASEA members, EGX also proposed in the meeting to develop a new website
and to produce a Fact book for ASEA.
10 September 2005 - Cairo
The third Executive Ccmmittee took place on the 10th of September
2005 in Cairo, in which further review of ASEA Memorandum and Articles of Association
took place, procedures for admission of new members were discussed within the context
of an application admitted by Bourse Des Valeurs Mobilieres de L’Afrique Centrale
(BVMAC), as a member of ASEA. The name of the Association was also changed from
African Stock Exchanges Association to African Securities Exchange Association.
13 May 2005 - Johannesburg
The second meeting took place on the 13th of May 2005 at the JSE
Securities Exchange, SA, in which discussions about potential members and contacts
initiation, together with ASEA budget were carried forward. There were further discussions
about the proposed amendments of ASEA Memorandum and Articles of Association as
well as the investment options for the ASEA surplus funds.
26 January 2005 - Tanzania
The first executive committee meeting of 2005 was held in Tanzania on the 26th
of January 2005. The meeting focused on issues concerning new potential members,
improving information and promotional avenues as well as ASEA Budget.
